Maps and charts have been as important in war as weapons. The ability to gauge the depth of coastal waters proved a vital part of Nelson's victory at the Battle of the Nile in 1798. Maps prepared for planning the D-Day landings showed the coast of northern France but the towns and rivers were given names from other countries and even continents. Today the GPS may have made navigation easier, but the compass and protractor are still essential.
The inter-active maps on this site give a our travellers the opportunity to “visit” locations without having to leave the comfort of their home. It is the first stage in planning a tour that may become a lasting and very special memory.
