I just wanted to thank you for arranging the tour and teaming us up with Bob Darby.  He was an excellent guide whose knowledge and passion really brought all the places we visited to life.  His ability to describe the events as they happened to a group with limited military knowledge was invaluable.  We saw even more than I had hoped for considering the extreme crowds for the 70th anniversary.  It was a pleasure to have Spirit arrange our tour. In all we enjoyed the tour immensely and would recommend Spirit of Remembrance and Bob to anyone looking for a similar experience.

My wife and I are back home after a wonderful trip to France. The highlight was our trip to Vimy. What an incredible site . The visit was both informative and moving. The arrangements all went smoothly and Myriam Thompson was a knowledgeable and personable guide. She was a perfect match for us.I have already, and will continue to recommend SOR to others.

Thank you for arranging this. It was everything I hoped for and I think about it often. Your knowledge is incredible and you set exactly the right tone and pace for … a life learning experience.

Just a short note to send ..... all at Spirit of Remembrance,  my thanks and admiration for the tour. I know you and your team worked tirelessly to make it a viable option and .... it was a wonderful experience and our travelling companion was a delight - very good company. Certainly from Julian's and my point of view it was a great success ....  Christopher, as usual, made it live for us

I can't thank you enough for the tour ... in my view and everyone I have spoken to, it simply couldn't have gone better and 95% of the work was your meticulous planning and execution .... I thought the whole 3 days were beautifully planned in your inimitable way. I am so grateful .... I can't thank you enough .... I have an awful lot to repay your for

Mr C Sept 2013

.... thank you so much for being such an energetic, knowledgeable and altogether perfect guide during our recent trip to the Normandy landings. It was all such fun - but also poignant and sad - and having ready Anthony Beevor's book, it all made so much more sense to be able to actually see it all. Thank you

Mr H Sept 2013

I was rather heavy getting back to the daily round after such a wonderful trip. Could we manage without our leader? Thank you very much for all the work you must have done to give us such a fascinating and interesting tour. I think we have all be reflecting on what we saw and learnt ...
Mr & Mrs B Sept 2013

It is only a week since we boarded the bus to begin what was a truly memorable experience. This was due to the wonderful way you looked after us, keeping us in order when necessary and showing us things which would not have been seen had we gone on our own .... It was not difficult to imagine what went on 69 years ago thanks to the way you led is through the landings and into the cemeteries where we were able to carry out Acts of Remembrance .... Thank you also for including the Bayeux Tapestry and arranging excellent accommodation, dinners, picnic and lunches, all of which contributed to a visit which neither of us are ever likely to forget
Mr & Mrs B Sept 2013

We can't thank you enough for all you did to lay on and guide our tour. I use the term 'memorable' which I feel summed up all aspects, though 'fantastic, ' thought-provoking' and 'moving' would also do well.

Mr & Mrs G Sept 2013

Our [trip] with you was more than we expected, it was a truly fantastic day!  I am sure that you arranged the sunshine for us too!

XXX and I would like to thank you very much for the effort that you put into our tour last week. It will forever be remembered, and the highlight of our trip to Europe. I am sure that others in NZ would love to have the same experience. I know that I will be telling others of our experience.

Marilyn and I would like to thank Mike Scott for the most interesting tour of NZ related WW1 sites on the Somme and Flanders. Mike knew the entire area like the back of his hand and his knowledge of each site was like an encyclopaedia. We will always be in debt for his exceptional 3 day tour, starting at Ashford, England.

Mr P and Ms S July 2013

Thank you, you did an excellent job. Thanks for the brilliant tour. We will definitely recommend you to others.

Mrs M and Family June 2013

The whole tour was expertly put together and meticulously researched, we have the folder put together by our guide with all the details, a wonderful legacy for our family. Although sad at times because of the tremendous loss of life it was a wonderful experience. ... The trip has had a profound effect on us

Mr & Mrs W and Family May 2013

Thank you. We will always treasure our memories of ANZAC Day 2013. Thank you for helping us learn more about the Australians role over the years 1916-1918.

Mr & Mrs G. April 2013

I have just completed a one day visit to Villers Bretonneux with Spirit of Remembrance Tours for the Anzac Day dawn service. An absolutely excellent experience, which also included a visit to other Australian WW1 battlefield sites of Pozieres, Fromelles, Bullecourt and a couple of other smaller cemeteries of Australian significance.

Mike Scott provided an excellent overview and explanation at the respective battlefield sites of the disposition of Australian, British and German forces, the military and political logic ( or illogic) and tactics, details of the tragic outcomes at these battlefields in terms of the loss of human life from all sides, and in particular the Australian losses, not to mention that it helped me get a better understanding of the stupidity of the war.

Another advantage of the tour for me was that whilst touring around the French countryside you see the French villagers acknowledgement of the Australians effort and success e.g. Aussie flags painted on water towers, road sign posts saying "Koalas next 15 KM"

The day was quite emotional from time to time, very enjoyable and a bucket list item ticked off ( although i probably need come back)

Mr P. April 2013

The trip was short but very enjoyable. The group was great, and the guide terrific.

Mr B. April 2013

This was an extremely worthwhile tour. The whole day was filled with emotion, beginning with the dawn service and followed by visits to battle sites and war cemeteries. Our guide, Mike, was a fountain of knowledge and was able to explain the significance of every place we visited. A day never to be forgotten.

Mr & Mrs M. April 2013

I have had nothing but praise from my members who unanimously agree it was one of the best, if not the best, in recent memory. Believe me they are not an easy bunch to please so that is praise indeed! Everything went to plan without  many of the hiccups we have experienced on other trips. The choice of hotel was excellent as was the Rome trip. You even managed to get the weather right! Special mention must be made of Peter whose meticulous research and attention to detail ensured we got the absolute maximum from our battlefield tours in the time available. We visited more sites than on previous Italian trips and certainly received the most informative narrative ever. In addition to his role as tour guide Peter also ensured all necessary in situ arrangements were made thus taking considerable pressure off me. For the first time I was just able to sit back and enjoy the trip with everyone else.

London Scottish Regiment, October 2012

Many thanks for an excellent trip

Thank you for all that you did to make our trip such a success. We all agree that we couldn't have asked for anything more. You made the trip interesting, enjoyable and easy. Your knowledge was greatly appreciated and your planning was spot on.

Mr T. October 2012

The Somme visit was greatly enjoyed by everybody, thanks in large measure to your excellent explanations of the back-ground to the Great War and how things unfolded on the Somme. Again, thank you.

The Coachmakers' Livery Company, September 2012

We both thoroughly enjoyed our day with you. It was a highlight of our trip [to Europe].

Mr & Mrs F. August 2012

We had a great time- made so special by all the hard work you had put in to the “ story” and by your excellent friendly company . I have already sung your praises to all who have asked about my holiday.

Mrs M. August 2012

I wanted to thank you for the WW1 Battlefield Tour you guided me on at the end of September 2012.

Your knowledge of the history and of the physical landscape throughout France & Belguim, the connections with the people was most impressive.

Your organization of the itinerary for our two days was very complete, visiting all of the sites, you hit the mark and made my trip a lifetime experience. You educated me on so much for which I am most grateful. I will be sharing my experience and this history with family & friends forever.  I will hold your name in high regard and will recommend you to any would be visitors.

Mr C. August 2012

I don't have an address to send you a "proper" thank you letter but it is no less heartfelt for that. The trip was one of the most moving and powerful experiences of my life. You brought everything to life, so much so that I could almost see the battles unfolding. The visit to Herbert's grave was almost unbearably moving for me and to be able to lay the poppy wreath on behalf of the family was a privilege. Thank you for suggesting it, I would not have realised it was possible otherwise.

It really has been such a worthwhile trip and I'm so glad I did it. I learned so much and will, I'm sure, learn more.

Thank you so much again, you were brilliant.

Mrs M. July 2012
